Having a chat during Samaritans Talk to Us month

Today (1 July) the Samaritans annual Talk to Us campaign begins, encouraging the nation to have a chat when times are challenging.

TALK TO US

Every year in July, Samaritans branches across the UK work to promote the services they offer in different communities.

Samaritans is a charity helping to tackle feelings of isolation and disconnection that can lead to suicide.

Each year Samaritans answer more than five million calls for help, supported by around 20,000 volunteers.

Talk to Us month is dedicated to letting the public know that someone is there to listen, 24/7, without judgement or pressure.

GET CHATTING

Throughout July, local Samaritans branches will be holding events to let the public know they are there for a chat.

From bake sales to one on one meetings, there will be a host of opportunities to get chatting to a Samaritans volunteer.

In July and all through the year Samaritans are there for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You can call the charity anytime on 116 123, emailfind a branch or write a letter for help.

SAMARATHON

This year the Talk to Us campaign takes place alongside Samarathon, the Samaritans challenge to complete 26.2 miles running, walking, jogging or using mobility aids during July.

The alternative marathon is a great way to raise life-changing funds for the charity, but is also a reason to grab a friend, get active in the outdoors, and have a chat.

With the chance to spread your miles out, or even do more than a marathon, you’ll have plenty of time to check in on friends, family or yourself.
