Youtuber’s ‘How to install a homelift’ video goes viral with over four million views

The fiancé of an aspiring equestrian star who experienced spinal injuries as the result of a fall from a horse has made a YouTube video about how the couple installed a homelift in their home which has gone viral, with over four million views in four days.

Zack Nelson, an American YouTuber, who is better known as JerryRigEverything online, and wife-to-be Cambry Kaylor were searching for a mobility solution that would enable her to move safely and independently between floors.

Cambry fell from her horse during a training accident in 2005 when she was just 18. The couple decided on a smart and sophisticated Stiltz Homelift and Zack, documented how the domestic lift was installed on his DIY YouTube channel. Zack has become popular for his technology reviews and has 3.9m subscribers.

The video ‘How to Install an Elevator in your LivingRoom!’ was published on July 22 and reached #11 on Trending, averaging over one million views a day and has now had 4,623,794 views on YouTube.

They film the entire installation process of a Stiltz Trio Homelift which is large enough to accommodate Cambry’s wheelchair. The video is full of humour but also packed with tech insights about the domestic lift, more commonly known as a home elevator in the USA. The Stiltz requires no hydraulics or supporting walls and travels through the floor on self-supporting rails, plugging straight into the wall using a standard 13amp power socket.

Zack writes in the YouTube video preview: “Cambry and I put an Elevator IN OUR HOUSE!! And it is awesome. Fully electric, futuristic, and quiet. It turned out pretty cool.”

Once the Stiltz Homelift is in place, Cambry – who was previously having to rely on Zack carrying her up the stairs – rides it for the first time and says: “I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s like I’m in a spaceship or submarine or something. It’s cool and looks awesome!”

Mark Blomfield, President of Stiltz Homelifts USA, said: “Zack and Cambry obviously did their research on homelifts and reached out to us a few months ago. They purchased our top-of-the-range Trio model and Zack told us he was going to make a video of the installation with one of our authorised installers in Utah for his YouTube channel.

“Once we discovered how many subscribers he had, we couldn’t wait to see it. The video is absolutely brilliant and has to be the most viral video in the mobility and independent living industry in history!”

Yola Mealing, Head of Marketing at Stiltz Homelifts UK, added: “It’s fantastic for the Stiltz Homelift to be independently reviewed in this way by such a prominent US-based YouTube Influencer. It shows Stiltz Homelifts are proving as popular in the US as they are here in the UK, and with an increasingly younger audience. We hope the Trio makes a real difference to Cambry’s life and wish them all the best.”
