Revitalise centre welcome disabled people and carers for a much-needed subsidised lockdown break

Revitalise is here for people struggling with reduced care and loneliness, providing COVID safe respite breaks throughout lockdown.

National charity Revitalise, based in Southport, Merseyside, are very pleased to say that they have received generous funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and Barclays’ Community Aid Package, which allows them to offer financial support to anyone who is struggling with reduced care support, loneliness, needs a change of scenery, or knows someone who would benefit from a break and couldn’t otherwise afford a stay.

RESPITE

The subsidy will allow people to take a break, even during the current lockdown, and they can apply to receive as little or as much funding as they need.

“Thank you [to Revitalise] for giving me the funding to help me stay here at Sandpipers,” enthuses Sean, who stayed with Revitalise during the second lockdown.

“It’s absolutely excellent here, the staff are brilliant. You can’t fault it. When I came here I was put at ease, I was relaxed, and I’ve never received such love and care.”

For 57 years, Revitalise has provided respite care breaks to a huge range of people. These are a vital lifeline to so many unpaid home carers and their disabled family members.

Revitalise CEO, Jan Tregelles says: “The pandemic has been particularly hard on disabled people and their carers and although a Revitalise break this year is likely to be different from usual, we still hope to offer stays with adapted activities and entertainment, to give everyone a change of scene and a chance to recharge batteries, returning home refreshed.”

SAFETY

Of course, the safety of Revitalise guests, colleagues and volunteers is still top priority, so the charity will be implementing several safety measures, including, at present, an isolation period.

Revitalise Sandpipers are fully COVID safe and their breaks are proving to be a real lifeline right now, offering a space for disabled people and carers to relax, socialise and be cared for with an all-important change of scenery.

Jan adds: “We are very grateful to the National Lottery and Barclays for helping us give a much-needed respite break to people who desperately need it.”
