Sharing the real-life stories of individuals living with limb loss and limb difference, the mission behind this year’s Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM) is to highlight the person and reality behind limb impairment.

It is hoped further awareness of limb difference and limb loss will also tackle loneliness and isolation many people experience.

KNOWLEDGE

“As an amputee or person with limb difference, there are many barriers to leading a full and active life. The limb loss and limb different charities offer a wealth of knowledge, opportunities and resources to support new and established amputees on their lifelong rehabilitation journey.

“There really is support and engagement opportunity for anyone no matter what their level of impairment or age,” said Kiera Roche, an above knee amputee and CEO LimbPower.

A consortium of limb difference charities, including Blesma, the Limbless Veterans charity, Finding Your Feet, REACH, and LimbPower, to name a few, will spend this month raising awareness of limb loss and limb difference.

April is a time for people with limb loss and limb difference and their loved ones to reunite or discover a support network.

EDUCATE

This month will see charities sharing events and resources to entertain, educate and connect empowering individuals and families to live a healthier and fuller life; sharing real-life stories to offer insight and tips to support the lifelong rehabilitation journey.

By working together, there will be a greater geographical spread and community reach across the UK.

You too can support the recognition and celebration of #LLLDAM and #LimbLossLimbDifferenceAwarenessMonth and spread the word using the Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month logo’s and assets.
