Celebrating superheroes with the Sunnybank Trust

This week (1-6 June) the Sunnybank Trust is celebrating the bravery of its members with a series of activities and events.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the Sunnybank Trust has been inspired by the bravery and stoicism of their members, as well as the ongoing support and commitment from volunteers and community friends.

Navigating the pandemic wouldn’t have been possible without these people and now the charity is celebrating their very own superheroes.

Events

Throughout this week (1-6 June), the Sunnybank Trust, which is based in Epsom, have events taking place to highlight these people.

To kick off the week, Sunnybank CEO, Dorothy, and Choice manager, Lesley, are undertaking a sponsored 10k walk as part of the London Vitality Marathon. Donning their superhero capes, Dorothy and Lesley will pass some special places along their walk that are important to the charity, as well as some of their members’ homes.

As the week continues, Futures manager Claire and the Futures group will be running 10k as a team, celebrating the energy and aspiration of young Sunnybank members. The Futures group is made up of young adults with a learning disability who have recently left education and are looking to build their independence.

The week will finish with the Unsung Hero Awards, which will highlight some of the people, organisations and community groups who have supported Sunnybank during a very difficult year. The awards will be posted to social media this weekend so that everyone can follow along.
