Learning disability charity Mencap’s annual Christmas Carols by Candlelight concert, supported by United House Group, will take place on Wednesday 4 December at St Bartholomew the Great church in London.

St Bartholomew the Great is the oldest church in London and its stunning setting provides the perfect venue for a truly magical service, blending traditional Christmas songs, carols and readings by very special guests.

An abundance of British talent make up this year’s readers. From one of comedy’s finest actresses Prunella Scales, to revered authors Sebastian Faulks and Penny Vincenzi.

As an extra special treat, hymns will be sung by the English Baroque Choir.

Penny Vincenzi is one of the UK’s most-loved and popular authors. She says:

“I am so happy to be returning to read at Mencap’s wonderful Carols by Candlelight service. It is always an exquisite event, set in a truly beautiful church, where people can come together for a traditional festive treat, all in aid of Mencap.”
