Brave soles are walking over hot coals to get hold of a place on the second Leuchie House Firewalk challenge, after the inaugural event raised almost £9,000 last year.
This year’s challenge will be held in the grounds at Leuchie on Friday October 17 and the fearless fundraisers will walk 20ft across burning embers at around 1200 degrees Farenheit – after a two-hour training session with the firewalking experts BLAZE.
One of the participants from last year, Leuchie’s very own HR Manager, Lucy Hyde, said she would encourage people to sign up for this year’s firewalk. “It was great fun and the training session really energised and inspired me to face my fears. It’s a unique way to raise money and challenge yourself.”
There is a £20 registration fee to register for the challenge and sponsorship forms will be sent out to help raise the minimum sponsorship of £180 and a chance to play a part in helping to provide much-needed respite breaks for people with long-term conditions.
Leuchie House is an independent charity providing high quality respite breaks for individuals and their families affected by long-term degenerative conditions with complex care needs. Find out more at www.leuchiehouse.org.uk
