The pioneers of disability sport

With awareness of disabled athletes arguably at an all-time high, Bristol Street Versa have taken a look back at the history of disability sports. Their Pioneers of Disability sport infographic profiles some of the key athletes and campaigners responsible for raising the profile of sports for the disabled. Whilst largely focusing on Paralympians, the infographic also looks at those active in other areas of sport, such as emerging motorsport icon Nicolas Hamilton.

The infographic also gives a little information on just some of the organisations involved in the promotion and development of disability sports, such as the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation, the International Blind Sports Federation, and the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association. In doing so, Bristol Street Versa have aimed to give a view of disability sports that reaches beyond just the Paralympics.

Take a look at the infographic below, and head over to the Bristol Street Versa site for more information.
