Michael Matheson MSP and Minister for Public Health will launch the Naidex Scotland conference programme on 18 September as the Liberal Democrats close their annual Autumn Conference in the same venue (SECC, Glasgow). Speaking at 10.30am in the SECC in Glasgow, Matheson will look at the impact of the Public Bodies Joint Working Bill and what it will mean for the integration of health and social care.

Offering visitors a chance to get up close to a Paralympian, Glasgow-born Mick McCreadie will officially open the RGK Wheelchairs stand at Naidex (stand G3) on 18 September. Bronze medalist McCreadie competed in lawn bowls and wheelchair curling in the Paralympics of 1976 and was the skip for the wheelchair curling team at the 2010 Winter Paralympics. He will help RGK launch the Smart Drive (a device which turns a manual wheelchair into a powerchair) and Tiga (a Kevlar-coated wheelchair) at the show.

Other familiar faces at Naidex Scotland include one of Scotland’s finest footballers Tom Boyd, ex-Celtic and Scotland player and the world’s fastest blind and disabled biker Stuart Gunn, who will both officially open Scotland’s premier disability, homecare and rehabilitation event at 10.00am on 18 September.

Organised by i2i Events Group, Naidex Scotland 2013 (which takes place every other year and is sister event to Naidex National) is the only independent living show for Scotland and the north of England and runs from 18 to 19 September. The event, including the CPD accredited conference and exhibition space showcasing the latest products, is free to attend and welcomes anyone looking for the latest products, services and strategies to support independent living.

With over 2,600 visitors expected at Naidex Scotland this year, registration is open for the free conference and exhibition at scotland.naidex.co.uk.
