Matthew Tingey, Naidex event director, said: “This industry is constantly evolving thanks to the creative minds behind product development and the technology now available. Whether you’re looking for a new chair, kitchen utensil, the latest adapted vehicles or services to support independent living, Naidex is the perfect destination to test and compare the best products available, with exhibitors showcasing the latest technology and a team of dedicated experts on hand to offer advice.”
Naidex into 2016
Event pre-registration from retailers and occupational therapists has more than doubled for Naidex 2015, compared to 2014. This rise in pre-registration is set to continue for 2016 as Naidex plans to increase the number of event features for occupational therapists, specialist health care professionals, as well as to help connect the industry.
Trade visitors continue to be key for Naidex into 2016. Having launched new content streams for both community equipment services and home improvement agency sectors this year, Naidex will strengthen its partnerships in these area to develop the agenda further.
The introduction of Naidex. Connects. – the facilitated meeting service that puts trade attendees in direct contact with exhibitors – has enabled visitors and exhibitors to take control of who they see at the show and Naidex is committed to developing more networking opportunities for trade visitors next year.
The business of independent living also continues to be a growing part of health and social care and new partnerships created this year, with associations such as Natspec (The Association of National Specialist Colleges), will enable the show to develop its specialist education offering.
In addition, key housing associations and providers of supported living have been identified and will be targeted to create an even stronger trade audience for the show.
Key partnerships will also continue with The College of Occupational Therapists and National Wheelchair Mangers Forum to ensure healthcare professionals remain an integral audience at the show. Strengthening these relationships and those with key wheelchair manufacturers and distributers will also create new practical learning opportunities for wheelchair clinicians and senior occupational therapists.
Naidex is also investing in raising the level of attendees at the show as well as the profile of the sector and the Naidex ambassadors are developing a project, which will invest in a new initiative around consumer awareness of assistive technology. The latest ambassador meeting will be hosted at this year’s show with more than a dozen local authority commissioners in attendance. This project will be developed further into 2016 with announcements expected for Naidex 2016.
Looking at the key launches and announcements for Naidex 2015, which takes place at the NEC next week, some highlights include:
Etac will show its new Nova 500 sit-to-stand hoist at Naidex, this product is intended for users with some weight bearing capacity. The low footplate makes it easier for the user to stand up from a sitting position – the centre of gravity is optimised for maximum stability and electric adjustable legs making it easier to get the hoist closer to the chair, wheelchair or toilet.

The first car to feature the ramp is the brand new Citroen Berlingo wheelchair passenger up-front vehicle, which will also be launched at Naidex.
