Orwell Housing Association

Orwell Housing Association is one of Suffolk’s largest employers and actively seeks applications from people with a disability. The Association holds the ‘Positive About Disabled People’ Two Ticks Symbol in recognition of our commitment to employing, supporting and training those with a disability and to ensure that everybody is treated fairly as individuals.

The Association provides affordable housing for those unable to meet the expense of buying or renting privately, alongside a variety of support and care services for vulnerable people. We respect and value equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do and this has been recognised in our being awarded the Investors in Diversity stage 1 accreditation, the first Housing Association in the East of England to do so.

Orwell Housing Association would like to achieve greater balance across the organisation by employing more people with a disability. We believe that workers with a disability are as capable, independent and productive as any other employee. We believe that enabling people with a range of different needs to enjoy meaningful work has enriched our organisation.

We offer a range of employment opportunities including property maintenance and development, finance, HR, administration, care and support. When recruiting we also recognise those looking to carry on working, start work or get back into work, with support from specialist rehabilitation and disability services.

We will always interview all applicants with a disability who meet the criteria for a job vacancy and consider them on their abilities. Once employed, we will discuss on a regular basis ways in which we can help the individual in their role, to develop and use their abilities and to really feel part of a successful, vibrant and growing business.
