New inclusive sports club in Tees Valley

teesvalleyymcaA new inclusive sports club has opened in Darlington called OnSide; to give people aged 14-30 the chance to try a host of exciting sports regardless of their physical, learning or sensory ability.

Tees Valley YMCA has been established since 1993, and has built an excellent reputation, working with young people living across some of the most deprived wards in Tees Valley.

The OnSide Project supports young people and adults with a disability to participate in activities that will improve their own health and wellbeing.  The club delivers a variety of multi sports and games including; goalball, athletics, basketball, cricket, golf, volleyball, boccia, new age curling, endzone and team building games.  The club is held within the Sport Halls at Dolphin Centre in Darlington every Thursday evening, between 4pm and 6pm, with a cost of £2.50 a session.

Volunteer opportunities are also available and supported by the Project Lead. We will provide training opportunities such as the Sport Leaders Award for all our volunteers. Volunteers can also become buddies to club members to support them in accessing the activities and any other supporting opportunities.

If anyone is interested they can turn up on the night and meet Phil Hay (Onside Sports Coordinator) at the club or for further details please contact  Laura Bush (Team Leader) on 01642 6786511 or lbush@ymcateesvalley.org.uk
