Naidex Scotland confirms 2013 programme

Naidex Scotland, Scotland’s largest disability, homecare and rehabilitation event, today announces its 2013 programme which takes place at the SECC, Glasgow from 18 to 19 September. The event, run by i2i Events Group, is free to attend and welcomes anyone with an interest in independent living, from people living with disabilities and their families and carers to those working in social and health care, specifically those based in Scotland and the north of England.

i2i Events Group is also thrilled to announce this year’s show partner – the College of Occupational Therapy (COT).

Naidex Scotland takes place every other year and is aimed at social and health care professionals, members of the public and retailers and manufacturers. With over 2,600 visitors expected this year, registration is now live – visit scotland.naidex.co.uk for your complimentary ticket.

Exhibitors and products

As the sister event to Naidex National, the UK’s largest homecare, disability and rehabilitation event, Naidex Scotland offers unrivalled opportunities for members of the public to test and compare hundreds of the latest products from over 100 exhibitors.

Drive Medical, NRS Healthcare, N&C Phlexicare, Allardyce Healthcare and 1st Call Mobility offer a range of independent living products, including powerchairs, daily living aids, showering aids, paediatric equipment and beds.

Physiotherapy products such as clinical equipment and hand therapy aids will be offered by Patterson Medical, while AKW will showcase its range of accessible and stylish bathrooms and kitchens. CareflexSpecialised Orthotic Services and Kirton Healthcare will demonstrate their seating systems, which meet a wide range of customer needs.

The full range of mobility products and services will also be on show with Albion Mobility, Fast Aid Mobility, Stannah and Wessex Lifts exhibiting the latest products, from manual wheelchairs, scooters, powerchairs and lifts. National charity Motability will also offer advice on funding.

Naidex Scotland will also show the latest technological advances in action, including RSLSteeper’s new Perrero which is a single switch system that allows instant and easy access to the whole interface of an Apple iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone (approved by Apple).

KideQuip Zone returns this year. Dedicated to children’s equipment and services, the KideQuip area is aimed at parents of children with disabilities, SEN teachers and paediatric healthcare professionals. Products range from children’s wheelchairs, buggies, communication aids and soft-toys but also includes information from specialist schools and charities. Not to miss is Tomcat, who will showcase its range of innovative trikes, featuring rear steering and braking system for an ultra secure ride.

Also retuning is the Car Zone, a dedicated area for companies showcasing wheelchair accessible vehicles and motoring advice.

Conference

Running alongside the exhibition, the conference programme, aimed at health and social care professionals, will offer unrivalled content. In a year with huge overhauls to the CPD system, the CPD-accredited conference has been expanded and now offers two theatres as opposed to one in 2011. The Keynote Theatre offers the latest thinking on legislation and ‘big questions’. Not to miss is Gabrielle Stewart, Policy Officer at the College of Occupational Therapists who will explore what the potential outcomes are of the Public Bodies Joint Working Bill. The Clinical Skills Theatre provides a platform for practical advice, from moving and handling to physiotherapy. Sarah Daniel, Consultant Neurological Physiotherapist, Physiofunction will be headlining, speaking on developments in functional electrical simulation. Other key speakers in the Clinical Skills Theatre include Anne Murray, Moving and Handling Advisor, NHS Grampian, Sonja Waara-Conway, Management & Marketing Consultant, Mark Ripley, Clinical Manager, both from Handicare.
