Motability’s Big Event is headed for Birmingham

Motability’s hugely successful exhibition programme is expanding its reach in 2018, by adding a date in Birmingham to its already jam-packed schedule.

The UK’s largest display of cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs, the Big Event has been taking place at locations nationwide for the last ten years. The events are free to attend, giving disabled people and carers the chance to meet manufacturers, adaptation firms, and test drive cars, as well as meeting the Motability team to find out more about the leasing scheme.

This year, the Big Event show will be heading to Birmingham for the first time, taking place at the NEC on 6 and 7 July.

  • Friday 1 and Saturday 2 June, The Big Event at Eikon, Lisburn, Northern Ireland
  • Friday 6 and Saturday 7 July The Big Event at the NEC, Birmingham
  • Saturday 28 July, One Big Day at Westpoint, Exeter
  • Saturday 11 August, One Big Day at Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate
  • Saturday 8 September, at One Big Day at Peterborough Arena, Cambridgeshire

The Big Event in Birmingham will be the largest event of the year, but the other One Big Day exhibitions will also be offering a wide range of vehicles, including wheelchair accessible vehicles. Motability advisors will be at all events to answer questions about the Scheme, alongside representatives from partner organisations RAC, RSA and Kwik Fit.

At all events, visitors can test drive cars, both adapted and non-adapted, to find something that’s right for their needs.

Since its inception, the Motability events have helped over 120,000 disabled motorists find out more about the Scheme, which lets people exchange certain benefits to lease a car, powered wheelchair or scooter.

Alison Beasley, One Big Day Event Manager at Motability Operations Ltd, said: “The One Big Day events are incredibly popular and attracted over 20,000 visitors in 2017, and we’re excited to meet lots more people when we head to the NEC in Birmingham for the first time in 2018. The NEC is a great venue and we hope it will provide an ideal opportunity for many disabled people and their families to find out about worry-free motoring with the Motability Scheme.

“There will be opportunities to gather information and advice, see a wide range of vehicles, and take a test drive, all in one place.”
