Motability receives donation from Scottish hotel Trust

Crerar Hotels Trust

Motability, the national disability charity, received a cheque for £5,000 from the Crerar Hotel Trust on 20 February 2013. The cheque was presented to Motability at Ben Wyvis Hotel, Strathpeffer by hotel manager Marina Kilbauskas.

Marina said: “Crerar Hotels is proud to make a donation to Motability. It is a fantastic charity which makes a real difference to a disabled person’s life and their freedom to get out and about for everyday tasks.”

Steve Hodgeson from Motability received the cheque. He said: “We would like to thank the Crerar Hotel Trust for their generous donation. We will be using this contribution to help disabled people in the communities around the Crerar hotels in the west of Scotland, with a particular focus on children and young people.

“Donations to Motability greatly benefit disabled people who cannot afford the right car or adaptations for their needs, or help young disabled people with driving lessons.”

Motability’s charitable work relies on voluntary income and aims to raise around £2.5 million each year to help some of the most disadvantaged disabled people in the UK. This income is raised in a variety of ways; donations from charitable trusts and foundations, corporate support, individuals who fundraise and from trading activity. Grant-making organisations contributed £243,000 towards Motability’s charitable work in 2011/12.

Crerar Hotels is part owned by a charitable trust called Crerar Hotel Trust. With this, Crerar Hotels donates almost 50% of the distributable profit to the trust for distribution to needy causes within 1 hour driving distance of a Crerar Hotel or where our customers live.
