A number of participants have signed up for a cross country obstacle race to support national disability charity Motability, including a thirteen-strong team from Loughton. They will take part in the Nuclear Rush around Kelvedon Hatch, near Brentwood, Essex, part of the Nuclear Races series, on Sunday 11 May.
The group of employees from Loughton business Streamline Services Consultancy Limited will pass more than 50 natural and man-made obstacles on undulating farmland, rivers, lakes, ditches, woodland and bogs. Matthew Pask, Operations Director said: “We are all excited to be taking part in this event, for which we hope to raise £1,500 for Motability, to support disabled people with their mobility. We feel ready to take on the obstacles along the course, and will work together as a team so that everybody crosses the finish line.”
Anyone who would like to support the group and Motability can visit www.justgiving.com/TeamStreamline to make a donation
Aine Canavan, Corporate Accounts Executive at Motability, said: “We would like to thank everybody at Streamline Services for their fundraising efforts. The Nuclear Rush will be exhilarating, challenging, tough and fun. There are still a few spaces left for those wishing to take part this weekend or for other challenges later in the year, so please do contact us for individual and group entries.
“All funds raised will be used to support disabled people who cannot afford the right car or adaptations for their needs, or to help Motability customers with driving lessons.”
Nuclear Races, which organises this event and other adventure races, has selected Motability as their charity to support throughout 2014. By raising funds for Motability’s charitable grants fund, participants will receive a discounted entry fee to the Nuclear Rush of £30.10 rather than £59. Anybody wishing to take part in this race or one in the future should call the Fundraising team on 01279 632258 or email email@example.com.
Motability’s charitable work relies on voluntary income and aims to raise around £2.5 million each year to help customers who would otherwise be unable to afford the mobility solution they need. This income is raised through charitable trust and foundation donations, corporate support, individual fundraising and from trading activity.
