Lal and Sunita Parmar, from Staffordshire, whose daughter Davina has cerebral palsy, hadn’t owned a wheelchair accessible vehicle before. This meant that every time the family travelled by car, Lal had to go through the awkward process of lifting Davina out of her wheelchair and into the car, then dismantling her wheelchair, only to rebuild it when they reached their destination.
When the time came to change their car, finding a vehicle that could cater for their daughter’s wheelchair as well as being an all round great car was made easy thanks to the Volkswagen Vista from Allied Mobility.
Lal comments: “Lifting Davina in and out of her wheelchair was not only difficult for me but it also meant Davina constantly being disturbed every time we had to go anywhere. I thought to myself there must be a better way for us to travel!
Driving for Perfection
“After a bit of research it became clear that Allied Mobility not only had the perfect vehicle in the Volkswagen Vista but they could also provide important unique features into the bargain,” says Lal.
“My wife and I didn’t hesitate to book a home demonstration. When we saw the Vista first hand, we were very impressed. Not only did it have excellent accessibility but we loved the look of the car.
“We couldn’t believe the amount of space inside – it was exactly what we needed. Now Davina can travel in her wheelchair and we still have enough room for four other passengers and myself or Sunita driving. It’s great!”
Based on the impressive Volkswagen Caddy, the Vista is a stylish multi passenger vehicle capable of carrying a driver, four passengers and a wheelchair passenger. Wheelchair access is a priority in this vehicle with excellent accessibility features such as the lightweight FlatFold™ ramp, lowered floor and high quality wheelchair securing system.
Lal continues: “The car has made such a difference to our daily lives. The ramp is so easy to use and the fact it can fold flat is brilliant as it gives us more room if we need it.
“This was a feature that only Allied Mobility could offer and it didn’t even cost any extra! We’re moving house shortly so being able to use the boot space in the back will be so handy.”
“I’d have to say the best thing about owning a wheelchair accessible vehicle is the freedom it gives us,” concludes Lal.
“We can go out as a family much more often now. Our weekends are much busier, whether we’re visiting family or going out on day trips. I think Sunita loves it even more than me because now she can take Davina out on her own whereas before this wasn’t possible, due to her having to lift Davina into the car.”
Lal adds: “The service we received from Allied Mobility was fantastic! We really feel we got more with them in every way. From our initial contact to the home demonstration, price and delivery, we really can’t believe what we got for our money! Owning a car that has wheelchair access has made a huge difference to our lives and we couldn’t be happier!”
The Volkswagen Vista is available to buy, to rent and on the Motablilty Scheme, with Advance Payments starting from £3,495.
