motabilityDisabled motorists and their families can look forward to a new year of worry-free motoring thanks to the Motability Scheme, with new cars and prices available in 2015.

The new Motability Scheme price list for January to March 2015 features over 2,000 cars from 30 manufacturers. There are over 150 cars available at less than the mobility allowance and over 300 available for no Advance Payment, including the Suzuki S-Cross 1.6 SZ3 with remote central locking and cruise control, and the Nissan Juke 1.5dCi Acenta Prk which includes Bluetooth with audio streaming.

Over 700 automatic models are also available, including the Vauxhall New Corsa 1.4 SE and the Nissan Note 1.2 Acenta Prk, both with no Advance Payment.

For motorists who prefer a greener option, there are over 1,300 cars to choose from, with a CO2 emission level of less than 120g/km. Options include the Ford Fiesta 1.5TDCi Zetec Prk with Quickclear heated windscreen available with no Advance Payment, and the Volvo V40 1.6TD Cross Country SE S/S with climate control available at £299 Advance Payment.

Disabled people who receive either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment, the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or the Armed Forces Independence Payment can exchange their weekly mobility payment, to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair through the Motability Scheme.

There are three pricing bands available for those looking to lease a car through the Motability Scheme:

Cars that cost less than the mobility allowance – over 150 cars are available which cost less than the weekly mobility allowance. These cars are available to lease at a fixed weekly amount for the whole of the agreement, meaning the remainder of the allowance, including any increases, will be paid directly to the customer by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Cars available for less than the allowance include the Volkswagen up! 1.0 Move Up and the Hyundai i10 1.0 S.

Cars that cost the same as the mobility allowance – customers simply swap all of their weekly mobility allowance, including any annual increases, for the car of their choice.

Cars that cost all of the mobility allowance and also have an Advance Payment – customers can increase their choice of cars by paying a non-refundable upfront payment known as the Advance Payment. This covers the difference between the allowance amount and the total cost of the lease.

Regardless of which car is chosen, all Motability Scheme customers enjoy the same worry-free package including insurance, breakdown cover, servicing, tyres and windscreen replacement.

Mike Betts, chief executive, Motability Operations, said:

“Our new price list for the New Year offers a wide range of cars to suit all needs, whether those needs are particular access features, low carbon emissions or larger models suitable for families and mobility equipment. With over 2,000 models to choose from plus the added benefits of a full worry-free motoring package which includes insurance, servicing, breakdown cover and replacement tyres, Motability customers can look forward to reliable motoring in 2015 and beyond.”
