Cyclone Technologies, the UK’s leading rehabilitation and training specialist for people with severe walking impairments, has appointed paraplegic Johnny Dawson-Ellis as its new Mobility Advisor for the South of England.
Johnny, 33, from Kent, joins a team boasting over 120 years’ combined experience of life in a wheelchair, and will be looking to continue Cyclone Technologies’ work in transforming the lives of customers across the South.
Through providing a range of products offered exclusively in the UK by Cyclone Technologies, such as Functional Electrical Stimulation equipment, multi-gyms, bespoke, lightweight wheelchairs and ReWalk systems, Johnny will help the company to maximise their customers’ range of movement, fitness levels and general health, helping them to regain a new level of independence and control in their everyday lives.
Johnny is an existing Cyclone Technologies customer, having worked closely with the company to regain his independence, improve his fitness and even ‘walk’ again with an exoskeleton mobility solution, ReWalk, following a motorcycle accident in 2009 which left him paralysed from the waist down.
Johnny said: “With so many unemployed disabled people in the UK today, it’s fantastic that Cyclone Technologies are giving people like myself the opportunity to develop a new career and help change other people’s lives. I’ve already made a great start in my new role and recently travelled to Italy with mobility specialist Chris Chegwen to get up to speed with the company’s premier wheelchair brand, Progeo, and I’m looking forward to an exciting future at Cyclone.”
Dave Hawkins, Managing Director at Cyclone Technologies, said:
“I think it’s very important for our company to have people who understand the difficulties and hurdles that our customers are facing every day as they adapt to life in a wheelchair, and we’re confident that Johnny will make a fantastic addition to the team.
“Johnny is living proof that enjoying an active life isn’t constrained by spinal cord injury and in recent years, has performed in the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, appeared on the BBC’s Songs of Praise and mastered his ReWalk training. We’re confident that Johnny will prove a real inspiration to our customers, and we’re very pleased to have him on board.
“Johnny’s key focus will be to help us continue to provide and help our customers across the South of England to use some of the world’s most advanced mobility aid technology available, delivering first-rate advice and support, and expanding our existing client base in the area.”
Out of the office, Johnny enjoys driving fast cars and socialising with friends.
