Films celebrating the inspiring achievements of people who support others with learning disabilities and autism have premiered on the big screen at Cineworld’s O2 cinema in Greenwich.
Dimensions, a national not-for-profit support provider, held its Inspiring People awards at the prestigious venue on Thursday (September 12). There, six short films detailing the incredible stories of the winners of the employee recognition awards were shown on the big screen to all who attended the organisation’s AGM and Review of the Year.
Steve Scown, Chief Executive of Dimensions, said it was brilliant to see films made in-house to celebrate the achievements of staff on the big screen and for staff to get the recognition they deserve in front of an audience.
He said: “To be able to mark the achievements of our staff in this way is incredible. Their stories are inspiring and our staff members help to bring our values to life.
“Dimensions is keen to work across many forms of media. These films set great examples to colleagues and can show newer members of staff what ‘good’ really looks like. And – looking at the bigger picture – they’ve helped to support the strong reputation which, I am happy to say, Dimensions has in the field of social care. I find that inspiring.”
Both the awards ceremony and the AGM were held at the Cineworld venue as an extension to the partnership between Dimensions and the cinema chain to show Autism Friendly Films monthly. Their partnership began in December, since when more than 8,300 visits to Autism Friendly Screenings at Cineworld have been made.
Steve added: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Cineworld for their continued support, and for sponsoring the event in this way where we can celebrate the achievements of our staff.”
Stuart Holdsworth, National Head of Learning and Development for Cineworld, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Dimensions and showcasing the Inspiring People awards winners on the big screen. Our partnership has allowed thousands of people to enjoy Autism Friendly Screenings and we look forward to welcoming even more people to upcoming screenings. ”
The Dimensions annual ‘Inspiring People’ Awards are organised to show the inspiring work carried out by employees. Over 200 people were nominated originally, and all employees are asked to vote for their winners, matching up with the organisations values – ambition, respect, courage, integrity and partnership.
Award winners were: Alan’s team, ambition; King Oswy Drive and Rui Shang, respect; Leanne Thompson, courage; David Kushar, integrity; Staci Jenkins and Tracey Garcia, partnership
